Are you one of  800 million people that are using Instagram?

Are you using Instagram for your business?

Instagram has quickly grown to become one of the most used social media platforms, with millions of people using it for personal and business use.

It’s extremely important for any business to consider using Instagram to get more exposure for their business. Here are some of the most important reasons why you should be using Instagram for your business.

Instagram is not a trend

Was it ever really a trend? There are so many social media platforms available, with new platforms popping up weekly and it is sometimes hard to know if it’s just a passing trend or one that will stick around.

Don’t underestimate the power of a platform that is focused on a mobile audience.

With 800 million people using Instagram, it’s definitely not a passing trend. There are 15 million business profiles worldwide.

Instagram shares some other impressive stats:

  • There are 15 million business profiles worldwide.
  • 60% of people say they discover new products on Instagram (stat from 2015 and is likely increased today)
  • 75% of Instagrammers take action after being inspired by a post

It’s innovative

Instagram is constantly coming out with new changes, whether it’s a simple change to Instagram Stories, or rolling out the ability to tag one of your posts from your business with your products so that it’s easier for consumers to shop and buy products they love.

It’s perfect for visual marketing

There’s no denying that visual marketing is the most effective way to promote any kind of business. People are much more likely to respond to an image that catches their eye than they are to respond to text.

Brain Rules reports that when people hear information, they’re likely to remember only 10% of that information three days later and if a relevant image is paired with that same information, people retained 65% of the information three days later.

It’s easy to use

Instagram is a fairly easy platform to setup. Once you add your profile image, bio, one URL and some posts, you’re basically setup.

The key to Instagram is consistent posting, responding to comments and answering questions, and engaging on other accounts.

Other ways to amplify your Instagram account:

  • Using Instagram Stories
  • Adding relevant hashtags to your posts
  • Selecting beautiful, clear, and professional images to post on your account
  • Using the location sticker option on Instagram Stories

Large audience of all ages

Although Instagram skews slightly younger, when I looked at my own analytics I found that the largest age group was 25-34 but my next highest was 35-44 years old. So depending on your account and who you are trying to reach, there is a wide range of ages using Instagram.

why use instagram for business

Instagram has become the most popular mobile social media platform, so you can expect people of all ages and with all kinds of interests to be in it. The best thing is that you can engage that audience with constant visual marketing and that is a great advantage.

If you think you do want to use Instagram for your business, take the time to get to know the platform and read about the many successful business strategies that people have been applying with Instagram for incredibly powerful results. Although I haven’t seen thousands of dollars in sales, I have had people reach out to inquire about hiring me, and have found that clients of mine on Instagram are also getting direct messages about their products and services.
